Cleaning glass holders for votive sized candles? Could someone please offer a quick and simple method to aid in the removal of the metal wick base, & any wax which remains at the sides and the bottoms of a basic glass holder for votive size candles, after burning them? I'd appreciate suggestions which offer a gentle approach which doesn't involve scraping or digging with a tool, in order to avoid the possibility of accidentally breaking the glass. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Bri's Mom replied: "What I do is put them in a pot of boiling water until it starts to come off on its own! It always works and you can just wipe it out if it is still warm! after you get done if threes still a little residue left use a lighter to warm the spot that has it and re-wipe"

jguerrero3738 replied: "I put mine in the freezer for a little while to make the wax brittle and it should pop out or you can scrape it with a fingernail to come out. or you can put them in some hot water and let it melt a little and push it out with your fingers. I have also seen people freeze the wax with those cans of air used to clean keyboards and then use fingers to get it out. you can wash them out with dish soap and scrub brush after the wax is out."

Singin' In The Rain replied: "Hi, there's no need to scrape. All you need to do is rinse in very hot water in the sink. Do not boil or they may crack. Discard large chunks that fall away, then keep running the hot tap over the residual wax. It will come sparkling clean. After, polish dry with a little windex. They'll be as if they were never used! Cheers"

What type of glue could I use to glue a laminated picture to a glass votive candle holders? I am making candle holders from my drawings. But I need a glue that will keep the laminated picture glued to the candle holder even when the candles is burning for long periods of time. Is there anything that will work? Thankyou. I am printing on vellum paper then laminating the paper so the picture won't smear. ( I am hoping to sell them so I have to make them good quality)

Iritadragon replied: "Have you tried the stuff that dries clear that you use for decoupage? But I would think that even an Elmer's Household Glue would work as long as you allowed it to dry completely."

Wiseone replied: "super glue"

minimaker replied: "Superglue will actually break down when exposed to heat, so if you need a heat resistant glue I'd go for either a heat resistant contact or epoxy glue."

mike1942f replied: "E-6000 will stand the heat (more than the paper will), but you will have to judge whether it damages the paper."

How can I remove dried candle wax from a glass votive candle holder? It's like one of these things: ... I've wax stuck at the bottom and would like to remove them? I tried something like scissors but it's messy. Any suggestions besides a sharp ?

Sean G replied: "sometimes putting the candle holder in the freeze makes it easier to chip away excess wax... if this doesn't work let it soak in warm water."

bushmaster8 replied: "I've done this before by setting the glass votive holder in a pan of water shallow enough NOT to float the glass. After boiling for a while the wax will either soften or melt, depending on the melting temperature of the wax. In either case, using a hot pot holder, hold the glass in one hand and wipe the wax out with a wadded paper towel. Depending on how much wax there is, it may take several repeated cycles, but if you're patient, the glass will be clean. At that point I suggest washing the glass in your dishwasher [no need to do separately, but with your regular load]."

Bandett replied: "just heat it up in your oven , then wipe it out with a paper towel"

octane-overload replied: "Put them in the freezer for an hour , then pull them out and run under hot water for a minute. Wax will pop right out . No mess"
